Overview

Located conveniently within Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, Andiamo offers travelers a robust taste of Italian cuisine in a space designed for comfort amid the bustle of travel. Its menu balances classic Italian staples like Fettuccine Alfredo, Tortellini Alla Panna, and Veal Parmesan alongside lighter options such as Caprese and Chicken Caesar salads. The restaurant’s selection spans from hearty breakfast dishes like the Tuscan Breakfast and Frittata to satisfying dinner plates, complemented by specialty pizzas such as The Consigliere and a vibrant Margherita, all crafted with authentic ingredients.

Andiamo’s atmosphere stands out in the airport setting, with a well-decorated interior that creates a moment of respite for travelers. Guests can enjoy watching pizza preparation from the bar seating near the oven, turning a simple meal into an engaging experience. While the service receives mixed reviews, with some noting efficiency rather than warmth, it generally meets the expectations of a busy airport venue.

The culinary experience leans toward solid, dependable Italian fare rather than upscale dining. Standout dishes noted by visitors include the rich and flavorful desserts, especially the chocolate cake, and the famously satisfying breakfast frittata. Even the simpler options, like the caprese salad and burgers, deliver freshness and flavor suitable for quick, satisfying meals during layovers or before flights.

The drink menu, featuring an array of Italian and local wines, including a selection of red blends and sparkling prosecco, adds an elegant touch. Patrons looking for an Italian wine pairing will find thoughtful options that elevate the meal without complexity.

Andiamo’s target audience clearly comprises travelers seeking quality Italian dining without straying from airport convenience. It is ideal for those who appreciate familiar flavors in a space that blends casual dining with subtle sophistication. Though prices align with airport standards, the overall experience offers a worthwhile pause for those navigating the airport's fast pace.

In a regular setting, this would probably land around a 3.2—but for airport dining, Andiamo holds its own. Expectations were low going in (as they usually are when traveling), and this place did just fine. My wife had the caprese salad—fresh, simple, and enjoyable. I went with the burger, which our waitress recommended. It was decent: slightly overcooked and the bun a bit dry, but overall it got the job done. Yes, it’s overpriced—but it’s an airport, so that’s par for the course. All in all, it was a decent spot to grab a bite during a layover. Four stars, mostly because we walked in with realistic expectations.

We were at Detroit Metro Airport and stopped at Andiamo Italian for a quick lunch. My wife had the ravioli, and I ordered the chicken panini—both dishes were of good quality. Not quite high-end Italian, but definitely solid and satisfying for airport fare. The real standout was the chocolate cake—rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Easily the highlight of the meal. Service was just okay. The staff weren’t particularly friendly, but they got the job done. Prices were reasonable for an airport setting. Overall, a decent place to grab a bite if you’re flying through DTW

The pizza we ate here while waiting for our flight was very delicious! Service was great, and we enjoyed sitting at the bar right near the pizza oven and watching our pizza is being made.

Love the atmosphere. Well decorated. The food is okay and the prices aren’t bad for an airport location. Service was decent.

Frittata was amazing. There for breakfast when it was about 75% full. They were understaffed but the waitress was kind and fast. Even with that I was in and out in 35 mins. Coffee was strong and good.
